Founded in March, 2003 byTracie E. Christian, KTE
Foundation is dedicated to conceptualizing, producing and implementing innovative programs and events exposing youth to the
Literary & Communication Arts while aggressively promoting the importance of Literacy.

Our Staff
"I wanted to create an organization that would reach out to all, especially youth who
love to write and spotlight their creative talents. I think we're doing that with KTE."

Tracie is also writing her first fictional novel , The
Black College Sabbatical series chronicles the struggles & triumphs of four young women during their first year at
a historically black university.

Our Programs
Aways REAL:Revitalize Excitement
Around Literacy
- Aug. 2004 -The "Silence the Violence" Youth
Poetry Benefit - showcased the freestyle poetry of four Detroit-area youth ranging in age from 9 - 17.
- Dec. 2004- The "Need to Read" Library Card
Registration Drive Cupcake & Cocoa Social in collaboration with the Knapp Branch of Detroit Public Library- initiated
over 50 "new" Library Card Registrations
- May 2005 - Citywide LitFest in collaboration
with Communities In Schools -hosted several indoor festivals with games, prizes, & give-a-ways; all relating
to the vitality of Literacy. Library Card registration was required for entry.
- Aug. 2005 - "Project Express Yourself" Creative
Writing Workshops - a poetry writing series with interactive literary arts games, exploration of poetry techniques
and introduction of traditional & contemporary AfricanAmerican Poetry.
